Turn Challenges Into Opportunities
Jim Woods, a Black American, grew up in Missouri, the son of a single mother with an eighth-grade education. To support his family, he worked in the cotton fields as a child, where he learned the values of grit, perseverance, and leadership. With determination and a passion for learning, Jim earned a master’s degree in organizational development and human resources. Over the years, he has taught fifth-grade math and science, as well as university-level business programs, and has become a sought-after speaker and inclusion expert.
In a story that bridges continents, Jim met his wife, Lucy, on LinkedIn after reading several of her insightful leadership articles. Lucy, a Ukrainian engineer with a talent for blending technical precision with leadership principles, brought her unique perspective to their shared vision. Together, they have co-authored over eight books, spanning business and children’s literature, and have raised their son, an advanced student at a university in Ukraine.
The Woods family’s partnership reflects their deep belief in equity, diversity, and inclusion. They have dedicated their lives to empowering others, leveraging their unique backgrounds and experiences to foster leadership development that transcends borders and cultural divides. Their work is a testament to the idea that leadership is not just about achieving success but about uplifting communities and creating opportunities for all
